While Detweiler's career spans Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, and New York, the collection primarily documents his experience in Federalsburg, Maryland where he played on, and later managed, the Federalsburg Athletics.

Folklife Collection - Local Legends: The Sliver-Handled Whip

In a series of interviews with local Eastern Shore resident Mark Holsinger during 1972, former Salisbury University students Paul Purdum and Lynne Matthiesen collected folk legends. For this collection, these interviews focus on various stories revolving around the tale of the silver handled whip, that was said to be used by a decease woman protecting and haunting her fortune from her adopted brother whom she earlier in life disowned. Her estate is located near the Choptank River in Federalsburg, Maryland. Most interviews include personal descriptions of the interviewer and informant, and the story.
